We have an exciting opportunity to join our inclusion and pastoral support team. We have a vacancy for a part time registered Mental Health Nurse or Mental Health Practitioner. Successful candidates will ideally also have formal training and accreditation in at least one evidence-based therapy modality. 

The post holder will:

  • Have their own office with computer, meeting area and telephone.
  • Supervise our wellbeing dog called Ernie which can be used in wellbeing sessions.
  • Have access to an onsite Forest School which provides alternative provision for our students. 
  • Work in partnership with our pupils, their families/caregivers, and wider school staff to assess, formulate and collaboratively develop management and support plans for their mental health and emotional wellbeing needs (including risk and crisis planning).
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions to pupils and their families/caregivers to support self-management of presenting difficulties.
  • Help children and young people within these settings who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist services.
  • Support/facilitate staff in school to identify and manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing where appropriate. 
  • Attendance at Vulnerable pupils’ meetings and our own staff Wellbeing group.
  • Accept referrals in school according to agreed local and national protocols.
  • Complete all requirements relating to data collection.
  • MHST can provide clinical supervision.

We are looking for a self-motivated team player with excellent time management skills and ability to work with autonomy.  The successful candidate will have their own office, telephone and laptop and will be part of our Inclusion Team, which is led by our Deputy Headteacher (Pastoral), and Senior Assistant Headteacher who is in charge of Inclusion, alongside our warm and friendly Inclusion Team.
