SEMH Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Alderwood Senior School
30 hours per week. Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3pm. Term time plus one week

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive team. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to students’ academic progress, emotional development and overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
As an SEMH LSA, you will:
- Provide specialised support to students with SEMH needs, helping to promote both academic progress and personal growth.
- Work closely with subject teachers to engage and support students in a range of classroom activities.
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group support within the SEN department and the Resource and Inclusion Room.
- Deliver targeted intervention programmes, particularly in literacy and numeracy.
- Be part of the school’s ‘on call’ system to respond to behaviour concerns and classroom challenges.
- Promote and uphold the school’s ethos, policies, and commitment to safeguarding and equality.
Key Requirements
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced or knowledgeable in supporting students with SEMH needs.
- Proficient in ICT, with strong skills in report writing and organisation
- Resilient, flexible and able to remain calm under pressure.
- An excellent communicator, confident in working collaboratively with students, staff, parents and external agencies.
- Passionate about safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Salary details:
HCC Grade C Actual £17,915 to £18,913 (FTE £25,186 to £26,244)
