Salary: Hampshire LSA1 Grade B : £25,615 FTE - pro rata £16,703
Hours: 27.5/week, 39 weeks per year
Contract Type: part-time, temporary- conditional on child staying at St Peter's CE Junior School and/or EHCP funding continuing.

Our warm, friendly junior school, close to the centre of Farnborough but within the beautiful grounds of Farnborough Place, is looking to appoint a motivated and nurturing Learning Support Assistant. The post is centred on working as part of our SEND provision on a 1:1 basis to support the needs of some of our fantastic pupils, helping us to fulfil our vision of ‘learning and living life in all its fullness.’

We would love to find someone with an interest in SEND of different types and in supporting children to achieve and grow, regardless of the barriers they face. The children would love to work with someone who is compassionate, nurturing and dedicated to unlocking learning and achievement for them. The roles will both involve high levels of 1:1 contact, but there may also be occasions where you get to work with the wider class as well depending on the lessons and activities taking place.

The hours for this post are 27.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, (including attendance at INSETS) 8.30am – 3.00pm. (there may be slight flexibility over start and end times for the right person) There is a one hour break for lunch, during which the post-holder could cover half an hour of lunch duty under a separate contract if desired.

We are looking for a person:

who has an interest in SEND, especially speech and language and physical development.
who may have experience working with SEND children- this is desirable but not essential.
who is flexible, adaptable and willing to develop with support from others.
who has excellent communication skills.
who understands the needs of the Key Stage 2 curriculum and how it could be adapted to support learning needs, including phonics and early reading. (training can also be given to develop skills in a range of areas)
who can work independently and as part of the class and wider staff team.
who is compassionate, patient and positive towards pupils and their work.
who is organised and reliable.
who either loves animals, or doesn’t mind our school dog coming to say hello occasionally!
who is not necessarily a practising Christian, but has empathy for our Christian ethos as an inclusive church school for the community.

We are a small, friendly and close-knit team, with a low staff turnover and a wealth of experience to share among us. We love our small school feel and our diverse local community, but we also use the best of expertise available from Hampshire Education, the Diocese of Guildford and wider research to give our children the best experiences we can. We aspire to find the best in everyone, regardless of starting point or background.

We are a two-form junior school of around 220 pupils located just outside Farnborough town centre, graded ‘good’ in our most recent Ofsted inspection in September 2022. Our school is a wonderful mix of old (very old- parts of the building are pre-18th century!) and modern facilities with beautiful grounds shaded by the trees which line our field.

This role is conditional on the child staying at St Peter’s Junior School and/or the EHCP funding continuing. Should either of these conditions change then the post may cease.
