We are very proud of our beautiful school and we are looking to appoint a caring, nurturing and motivated person, who wants to make a positive impact to our children. We are looking to recruit an experienced SEND LSA to work with children across the school. We have a very strong inclusion team who you will work alongside. Our highly inclusive, one form entry church school provides an excellent environment for achieving high standards in teaching and learning.  We offer a wide range of opportunities for professional development. We work collaboratively with a number of schools across Andover and its neighbouring villages, creating many opportunities for professional development in a range of exciting contexts.

Job/Person Summary

Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

We are looking for a dynamic new support staff to join our fantastic staff team. We are seeking staff to work with children with additional needs across the school from September.

Are you resourceful, calm, adaptable and able to make learning fun? If so, we would love to hear from you.

Our SEND LSAs work with children who have Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Provision for these children is planned by their teacher, ably supported by our non-class-based SENDCo. Our SEND LSA positions are offered on a fixed term basis as they are linked to the needs of specific children and are expected to last for the time those children attend our school.

Our children require a mixture of in-class support and individual or small group intervention provision, so training and guidance will be provided to ensure new staff are confident and competent in role. We have a large and successful team of LSAs at our school who have weekly CPD with Senior Leaders.

We are looking for enthusiastic people, with some experience of working with children with special needs. Successful candidates will work flexibly and creatively with focused objectives to ensure children make good progress across the curriculum. They will have excellent communication skills and the ability to make work fun and engaging. An ability to encourage children to achieve their best and promote independence is essential.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A passion for the job!
  • Experience of working with SEN children
  • Experience of communication and interaction tools such as PECs/ ALB
  • A positive, approachable and caring attitude
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • GCSE Maths and English Grade C or the equivalent qualification

We can offer:

  • Wellbeing support and 24hr access to a GP (eg physiotherapy, counselling)
  • Happy, well motivated children, who are keen to learn
  • A beautiful historical building in the town centre, offering easy access to shops and local services
  • Strong and varied professional development opportunities
