We are looking for a new School Business Manager. Have you got experience of working in a school office and enjoy working with children and adults? Are you well organised, have an eye for detail and strong with finances? Are you familiar with setting a budget and school financial processes? What about health and safety? Employment and HR? Do you have experience of managing others? If so, you could be our new School Business Manager.
This is an exciting, new opportunity to join our friendly and dedicated team. Vigo is a 3-form entry primary school in the heart of Andover. Staff work hard to provide an education for children that helps them to grow and flourish, socially and morally as well as academically.
As School Business Manager, you’ll join a large team of highly committed staff. Directly, you’ll manage a skilled and friendly team consisting of the office team, midday supervisory team and breakfast club team. The office is a busy place, where no two days will be the same. In this role, you’ll be able to support the practical needs that a school office provides alongside the responsibilities for the role.
We are looking for the successful candidate to start in July to enable hand over with the outgoing Business Manager.
The successful applicant will:
- Have successful experience of financial processing and reporting, with attention to detail
- Have a strong understanding of employment regulations and recruitment processes, and be able to action these through payroll and other systems (training will be available)
- Be a calm, positive and effective communicator, confident in liaising with all colleagues, children, parents, governors and outside agencies
- Be confident and proactive in establishing and maintaining administrative systems for a busy school office
- Be able to work closely and in confidence with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team
- Act as the school’s Data Protection Officer ensuring compliance with GDPR legislation
- Enjoy working with children and adults in a busy school environment
- Have an enthusiastic approach to work and use initiative, especially when juggling multiple tasks
- Be ready to support first aid and medical needs
- Be keen to ensure that we achieve the best value for money in achieving our educational goals, supporting the school values and school development plan
- Seek external sources of funding for the benefit of the pupils
- Be able to manage a team, nurturing strengths and opportunities for continued development
- Have school-based experience in IT systems such as MIS systems, HCSS Budgeting and IBC, as well as a good knowledge of spreadsheets and online systems
