An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Science Technician to join our science department at Weston Secondary School, part of Hamwic Education Trust (HET). Weston Secondary School science department is committed to providing high-quality education and engaging science lessons with a focus on practical science skills.
HET is a large, fast-paced Trust with currently 37 academies across the South Coast. Linked to 6 community-based partnerships, there are 34 primary academies, 2 secondary and 1 hospital school.

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking Science Technician with a range of skills to support our exciting and ambitious science curriculum, who possesses drive, energy and a commitment to achieving the very best for our students.
As a department we are looking to develop our staff and are keen to help progress staff through CPD where needed or desired.

WE ARE SEEKING A PROFESSIONAL INDIVIDUAL WHO:
- Can prepare and set up equipment and materials for science classes, ensuring lessons run smoothly and efficiently.
- Can maintain and manage laboratory inventory, ensuring supplies are stocked and readily available for staff and students.
- Can demonstrate and enforce safe laboratory practices, ensuring all safety protocols and regulations are adhered to.
- Can provide assistance to teachers during practical lessons, supporting students with experiments and the safe use of scientific equipment.
- Can assist in the upkeep and repair of laboratory equipment to ensure continued functionality and safety.
- Can oversee students during laboratory sessions, fostering a productive and disciplined learning environment.
- Will stay up to date with best practices in laboratory management and science education, engaging in training and development opportunities.
