Site Assistant

Job Introduction

Whiteley Primary School is seeking to appoint a permanent site assistant to join our large and friendly staff team. We are looking for suitably experienced, reliable, and flexible person to support the site manager and work closely with our other site assistant and cleaning team in managing site safety, security, cleanliness and maintenance. Candidates should take pride in the site, be proactive and be willing to undertake training and development to support them in their role. Team working and flexibility are essential.

Core hours: 35hrs per week, Monday – Friday (for the right candidate, we have flexibility to offer 25 - 37hrs per week with some adjustment to the role). 

For the core hours of 35hr per week, the usual term-time weekly pattern will be Mon 10.45 – 6.15pm Tues -Fri, 9.45am – 5.15pm (including 30 min break – unpaid). Ideally, the successful candidate should also be prepared to learn the opening up routine for the school to enable occasional sickness/holiday cover for our site manager and be able to work occasional evening shifts to provide occasional sickness/holiday cover for our other site assistant who line manages the cleaning team and oversees evening lettings. (An additional 2 hrs per week is available to make this role up to full time.)

This is a 52 week contract – holidays may be taken through the year, in negotiation with the other members of the site team. In school holiday periods, hours may vary according to the needs at the time.

This position will particularly involve grounds work, basic maintenance, and cleaning (2 hrs per day), as well as supporting the site manager with health and safety requirements on site. Please see the job description and person spec for further information.
