Site Manager

Job Introduction

Are you a dedicated, hands-on professional with a passion for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for children? Our beautiful Grade II listed primary school is seeking a committed Site Manager to oversee and manage the school premises.

Previous relevant experience in a school or similar environment would be an advantage, but full induction and ongoing training will be provided by Hampshire’s Caretaking Support Services.

 Main responsibilities will include: 

  • Acting as a key holder and ensuring site security is maintained, including the daily opening and closing of the school, occasionally working outside normal hours for school events, including out of hours/ emergency call outs.
  • Completing maintenance tasks to a high standard, managing a programme of planned and preventative maintenance, undertaking minor repairs and redecoration.
  • Overseeing and monitoring contractors to ensure high standards of cleanliness and operational effectiveness, whilst ensuring all health and safety requirements are adhered to.
  • Acting as fire safety officer, with responsibility for a range of Health and Safety checks and monitoring.
  • Carrying out H&S inspections, assessments and compliance checks.
  • Managing COSHH, Legionella and Risk Assessments.
  • Managing and maintaining records in line with HCC and legislative requirements, e.g safety and personal records.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate: 

  • A flexible, positive, practical and efficient approach.
  • An ability to work independently, using their own initiative, including prioritising workloads and contributing to the needs of the children and the whole school team.
  • Have good basic DIY skills including plumbing, painting and carpentry. 
  • Good communication skills

The vacancy is for 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 52 weeks per year to include term time with holiday entitlement during school holidays. Our Site Manager’s core hours (during term term) are from 7.00am to 10.00am and 3.00pm-6.00pm. During school holidays, working hours can be altered, by agreement with the Headteacher, to suit completion of maintenance tasks and oversee contractors.

The salary will be based on experience and will start within Hampshire’s D grade range of £27780 to £30564 full-time equivalent (FTE).
