Social, Emotional and Behavioural Support Assistant

Job Introduction

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our school in this newly created role. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our pupils by supporting those with a range of complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The successful candidate will play a key role in:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs through tailored interventions and therapeutic programmes.
  • Assisting teaching staff in delivering inclusive and effective lessons.
  • Working collaboratively with families and external agencies to ensure holistic support for each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering SEN interventions and bespoke therapeutic programmes such as Thrive and The Empowerment Approach.
  • Supporting the implementation of lesson plans and classroom activities with the teacher.
  • Leading small group sessions and providing one-to-one support.
  • Contributing to detailed written reports for annual reviews.
  • Engaging with families to offer guidance, signposting, and support.
  • To support small groups / individual pupils during lunchtime.
  • Participating in manual handling operations and undertaking Team Teach training as required.

  • Passionate about supporting children with SEMH needs and committed to their wellbeing and progress.

This role involves regular manual handling tasks. Full training, including Team Teach, will be provided.
