Job Introduction
Great Oaks School is a large secondary school for young people with a range of complex learning difficulties including autism and speech and language difficulties. Our pupils come from all over Southampton as well as many from Hampshire. We are part of the Specialist Schools' Trust, currently comprising Great Oaks and Rosewood Schools.
We aim to put the needs of the young people at our school at the heart of everything that we do and through promoting a growth mindset help to ensure that all pupils irrespective of their learning difficulties or past educational attainment can make real progress and be enabled to succeed.
Due to continued expansion Great Oaks School requires an SEN class teacher from September 2025. Great Oaks is a secondary specialist school catering for young people with a range of complex learning difficulties in Southampton.
The post is likely to be with class of children with severe or moderate learning difficulties. Experience of working with children with SEND in the mainstream or specialist school sector is therefore essential. You will be required to teach all the subjects on the curriculum
