Job Introduction
Required from September 2025
We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic, and innovative teacher of English to join our highly successful team. In recent years, English and English Literature GCSE results have been consistently strong, and the department consists of eight experienced and supportive teaching colleagues whose shared purpose is to inspire and challenge the young people at Noadswood. The team are hugely collaborative and supportive of one another; it is commonplace to share resources and strategies freely.
Each member of the department drives not only a passion for English and Literature but also considerable creativity, because of the quality of research informed practice and experience that the team prides itself on. We can’t wait to have you in the mix; we will be keen to develop you in all the ways you need, as well as to benefit from your enthusiasm within the classroom. We will be keen to involve you in enrichment opportunities, as a tutor and in all aspects of your day-to-day work and your professional learning.
The study of English and Literature, the power of reading and the skills to work with text, purpose and audience are at the heart of the curriculum. So, we are looking to appoint a candidate who has the ability to ensure learners of all abilities can develop their own skills and passions for all this, make progress because of your adaptive and responsive teaching, and develop a lifelong appreciation of literature of all types.
Our school promises you a resolute commitment to first class relationships between colleagues in all roles right across the organisation, a pledge to listen to you and to share our successes and our mistakes with equal transparency so we learn and grow from both, and an excellent professional learning offer. You will benefit from our commitment to your induction and a rich professional development programme that will offer you bespoke opportunities along with department, whole school and collaborative CPD with schools across our local area.
Confirmed a Good school in its Ofsted inspection in October 2022, Noadswood is crucially a steady, welcoming, reflective and caring place, excited to have you join us to help this very special department and school to continue to go from strength to strength.
If you have that same energy, enthusiasm and commitment as we are describing, needed now more than ever in this profession, we are positive you will fit here. You can contact us by email: recruitment@noadswood.hants.sch.uk to discuss this post, arrange a visit or a chat with subject leader, Clare White, and/or Headteacher, Kathryn Marshall.
