Job/Person Summary

Would you like the opportunity to be part of this highly successful, caring and compassionate small school where children have a wonderful start and go on to become confident and successful learners?

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to join our small, friendly primary school. Are you an excellent teacher who believes that every child deserves a great education and a happy childhood?

We would love you to apply.

We currently have a rare vacancy for an experienced teacher to join our passionate and committed team from September 2025. We are looking for a highly skilled teacher who can refine and implement our highly regarded and engaging curriculum, and who can ensure that high-quality inclusive teaching meets the different learning needs of all children enabling them to flourish.

Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Steep Church of England Primary School's unique learning environment provides children with a love of learning and a real sense of awe and wonder.  Strong supportive relationships, excellent teaching, and an exciting curriculum, capitalise on this, ensuring each child has the belief, determination and resilience to achieve their very best and begin to realise their dreams.

Steep’s Victorian building has been extended and developed to provide an excellent learning environment for our children. To complement our indoor teaching spaces which include a library and hall, the school is fortunate to have an area of ancient woodland which incorporates our spiritual garden, pond, woodland walk, camp fire and outdoor classroom. In addition to the other outdoor play spaces we make full use of the common adjacent to the school as well as facilities at Bedales including their indoor swimming pool.

As a member of staff at Steep you will be part of a highly skilled and collaborative team, who work in close partnership with parents. We are passionate about providing ongoing continuing professional development and have a track record of teaching staff going on to complete recognised leadership qualifications and moving onto deputy headship roles.

If this sounds like the school for you, please apply.
