Year One Class Teacher

Job Introduction

Year One Class teacher - Suitable for ECT or Main Scale

We are seeking a passionate, imaginative and creative teacher to work in Year One.

This is an exciting time to join Shamblehurst Primary – as we are evaluating our current provision and developing it to meet the needs of our young leaners and build on their EYFS experiences.

We are developing our continuous provision in Year One, ensuring there are high quality resources and learning opportunities that are accessible for children through out the day, both indoors and outdoors. We believe continuous provision offers children the chance to engage in active learning through hands on, play based activities. It can enable children to explore recent learning, practice new skills and follow their own interests. It gives children time to think and explore and the adults time to work flexibly to support children on an individual level.

We recognise that not all subjects can be taught through continuous provision and some subjects needs discreet teaching. Whole class inputs and lessons include phonics, spelling, handwriting, the teaching of English, Maths and foundation subject skills and knowledge.

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Shares a determination and ambition for all our children to make the very best progress
  • Is a magic weaver, ensuing our children are engaged and excited by their learning
  • Ensures all children feel safe, secure, valued and included
  • Has creative and innovative ideas based around sound pedagogy
  • Demonstrates good classroom management skills and high expectations
  • Develops excellent relationships with parents and carers
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues
  • Loves teaching children in Key Stage One.

We can offer:

  • Fabulous children
  • A supportive and friendly staff team who plan to challenge and engage all children
  • PPA with your partner teacher
  • An inclusive mainstream primary school that is committed to ensuring a positive work life balance and high staff well being
  • A senior leadership team with high aspirations for the whole school community
  • A school that ensures high quality CPD to all staff
  • Supportive parents and carers
