Job Introduction
This an exciting opportunity to join The Hamble School. Our vision ‘We Care, We Aim High, We Learn and Achieve Together’ encapsulates the work we do every day. Our intake numbers are increasing – we currently have 1,090 students. In March 2025 we were graded as ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted and we are continuing to ensure that we provide the very best education for all our students.
We are looking to appoint a Technology Technician to work within our highly successful Technology Department. The main purpose of this role will be to prepare, organise and maintain materials and equipment for classroom, as well as support teaching and learning in the full range of subjects across the department.
We are seeking a professional, confident and resilient individual who will work in a calm, considered and proactive manner with a variety of stakeholders. Candidates will be required to set up classrooms and prepare equipment and materials for lessons, take responsibility for ordering, maintenance and support the teaching and learning of the department. The successful candidate will sometimes be expected to work with students on practical projects and perform machine demonstrations to students as requested by teaching staff. The role also has a range of health and safety responsibilities.
Candidates will need to have a good standard of education, GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English at Grade C or above. The role does have a moderate degree of physical effort involved and the successful candidate will, with the relevant training, be expected to move and handle heavy equipment and be required to use machinery within the workshops and materials preparation room. Experience and understanding of a school setting would be advantageous but not essential.
In return, we can offer you:
- a positive and optimistic working environment focused on staff well-being, student welfare, progress and high standards of achievement and behaviour;
- Opportunities to engage with Hampshire Apprenticeship scheme.
