Transition LSA/Well-being Coach – Alderwood Senior School

 

30 hours per week. Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3pm. Term time plus one week

 

Are you passionate about supporting the emotional wellbeing, confidence and personal development of young people with special educational needs?

 

We are seeking a caring, resilient and compassionate Well-being Coach / Transition Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive team.

 

This is a rewarding opportunity to build positive relationships with students, provide tailored emotional and pastoral support, and help young people develop the confidence, resilience and skills they need to successfully navigate transitions and engage positively with school life.

 

Purpose of the Role

To support students experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties so that they can effectively access the school curriculum, while contributing to a whole-school approach that enables students to develop their emotional literacy and wellbeing.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with individuals or small groups of students who are experiencing difficulties with emotional literacy or other aspects of school or home life.
  • Establish supportive, caring and secure relationships with students, and to be able to offer an individual student someone to talk to.
  • Develop knowledge of a range of learning and behavioural support needs and to plan, devise and implement appropriate programmes to help develop students’ emotional well-being.
  • Create, develop and produce appropriate resources for use with relevant intervention programmes
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues including Senior DSL’s, Mental Health Lead, Attendance Manager and Child and Family Support worker to provide a well-coordinated support programme of activities.
  • Liaise with the SENDCo regarding transitional arrangements for students with identified SEMH needs.
  • Ensure that all records and case notes are kept up to date, distributed and filed in accordance with the school’s procedures and that appropriate levels of confidentiality are maintained.
  • Ensure effective communication between Head of Year’s, for students being supported and signpost any further intervention needed.
  • Contribute to the monitoring and recording of student progress and provide relevant feedback to the relevant staff.
  • Liaise, and maintain good working relationships with other staff, parents and outside agencies as required.  

 

Key Requirements

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced or knowledgeable in supporting students with SEND needs.
  • Resilient, flexible and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • An excellent communicator, confident in working collaboratively with students, staff, parents and external agencies.
  • Passionate about safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

 

Salary details: 

HCC Grade D Actual:  £19,760 - £22,027 (pay rise pending) FTE:  £27,780 - £30,564 (pay rise pending)
