The Role
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with speech, language and communication needs. This is a rewarding role that involves working closely with class teachers, the SENDCo and external professionals to help the child develop confidence, independence and key communication skills.
Initially, the role is for a fixed term however, this may become permanent.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to a child with an EHCP for speech, language and communication needs
- Implement strategies and interventions recommended by the class teacher, SENDCo and external agencies and professionals
- Support the child’s participation and development in whole class, small group and independent activities
- Adapt tasks and resources to ensure accessibility and promote engagement
- Help develop the child’s social interaction and emotional regulation skills
- Maintain clear records of progress and feedback to staff
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and parents
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Is patient, nurturing and genuinely enjoys working with children
- Has excellent communication skills and a positive, proactive approach
- Can follow guidance while also using initiative
- Is adaptable and able to respond to the child’s individual needs
- Can use their initiative
- Can work as a member of a team
- Understand confidentiality and safeguarding
- Be confident with using IT
- Has experience supporting children with SEND, particularly speech and language needs

This role is to cover maternity leave and is a Fixed Term contract to 31st December 2026. Start date to be discussed at interview.
