TEACHING ASSISTANT 1:1  

FIXED TERM ENDING 31ST AUGUST 2027

Job Start Date:    Tuesday 1st September 2026 

Contract/Hours: 30 Hours per week - Fixed Term Contract

Salary: Grade 6 SCP 12-17 depending on experience    £28,792-£31,022 (£20,067 - £21,621 pro rata)

Hours of Work: 8:45 am - 3:15 pm (30 minutes lunch)

An opportunity exists for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work with a specific pupil with additional SEN need.  This will initially be a fixed term contract ending 31st August 2027, pending the needs of the pupil and budget constraints.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and nurturing Teaching Assistant to support children with their learning and helping to develop confidence and communication skills. The post will also include 30 minutes to support the pupil during the lunchtime period.

This specific role will initially be based at the Infant site at Church Lane however, there maybe a requirement to work across both our Infant site and the Junior site on Hawthorn Road.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to build good working relationships, be organised, enjoy working with children and "making a difference."

Good literacy and numeracy skills will also be essential in order to confidently support pupils in their learning when clarifying and explaining learning. Being sensitive to different needs and personalities, demonstrating empathy and warmth and being aware of the emotional needs of children would be highly beneficial. 

The successful candidate would work under the instruction and guidance of teaching and senior staff to undertake support programmes for a child with an EHCP.  Work may be carried out 1-1 with the child with the EHCP and at times you may also be required to assist other children.
