Have you experience of working with children and families in a school or community setting? 

Whiteley Primary School are seeking a committed and compassionate Home-School Link Worker to play a vital role in strengthening the relationship between home and school.

As a Home-School Link Worker, you will support children and families facing barriers to learning, attendance, or well-being. You will work closely with families, school staff, and external agencies to provide support, guidance and signposting in times of change and challenge, helping families to develop resilience and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed.  

Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Family support and engagement - providing advice and support to parents/carers;
  • Attendance and inclusion – identifying barriers to attendance and supporting families to address these;
  • Safeguarding and well-being – offering early help support to families, and carrying out duties as a deputy DSL for the school.

The successful candidates will

  • Have proven experience of supporting children and families in a school or community setting;
  • Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality;
  • Have a strong understanding of safeguarding;
  • Be empathetic and approachable, with a genuine desire to support families;
  • Have energy and enthusiasm, able to show initiative within the role.

This is a part-time role (15-20hrs per week) with some flexibility regarding how these hours are worked. For a candidate with appropriate school/classroom experience, the role could be combined to provide a role of up to 25-30hrs.
