Afterschool Club Supervisor

Job Introduction

Sun Hill Junior School is a  semi rural school, situated in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, and we are a sponsored academy and part of The Perins Multi Academy Trust. As part of our commitment to the community Sun Hill Junior School provides breakfast and afterschool club care for Sun Hill Infant and Sun Hill Junior pupils, 5 days per week from Year R to year 6. 

The Afterschool club supervisor will supervise the day to day running of the Afterschool provision ensuring that the service meets the care, play and educational needs of the children effectively and efficiently, as well as satisfying government guidelines. The Out of School Club service may be available before and/or after school and/or during the school holiday periods and this role may be required to deputise for the Breakfast Club Supervisor in their absence.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, late collections and any other service documentation in a secure manner ensuring retrieval of information in a timely fashion and the smooth running of the service.
  • Prepare rooms and resources in advance. Assign assistants to their daily duties and ensure that play equipment and materials are cleared away and safely stored at the end of each session.
  • Supervise, motivate and co-ordinate a team of staff to achieve an effective, efficient and consistent service ensuring regular review so that they carry out their duties in accordance with their role profiles.
  • Supervise the care and welfare of the children as required including effective liaison with parents/named carers and other childcare agencies on educational and care/medical matters encouraging parental/carer involvement and support in the provision of the service.
  • With the manager/officer, support in the planning, development and co-ordination of a balanced, stimulating, secure and safe play programme and creative activities suited to the age ranges, learning needs and abilities of the children using the service and engage those children in the planned activities.
  • Administer First Aid when required and be aware of the medical conditions of children in attendance. Record all instances, treatment and medication use on the appropriate system.

The successful candidate will have experience working in a childcare setting and will have GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above. (Or equivalent) . A childcare qualification and first aid qualification would be advantageous, but this training can be provided for the right candidate.
