You’ll help improve school attendance and engagement in education by understanding and addressing the challenges these children face. Working closely with children, young people, families and schools, you’ll help to identify and remove barriers to education and where needed, administer the legal processes to create better educational outcomes for children.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing clear advice and guidance on attendance concerns to schools, families and other professionals.
- Working across the School Attendance Support Team, chairing Attendance Meetings to explore barriers to attendance and developing Attendance Contracts or reintegration plans.
- Liaising with partner agencies to help children access and engage with education.
- Administering the Attendance Legal Process, including producing legal documentation and attending court when required.
- Using data and accurate case records to support decision‑making around case progression.
What we're looking for:
- Experience supporting and engaging with children, families and professionals across a range of settings, including confident use of professional curiosity and conflict management.
- Strong understanding of the barriers that prevent children and families from engaging with education, alongside a solid grounding in safeguarding principles.
- Excellent communication, record‑keeping and IT skills, including confident use of data systems and spreadsheets, and the ability to produce clear and accurate written reports.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage your own workload and diary effectively in a fast‑paced, frequently changing environment.
- Adaptable and values‑driven, demonstrating compassion, empathy and respect in all interactions.
Why join us?
- Make a meaningful impact by helping children receive the education they deserve.
- Work with a dedicated, passionate team committed to safeguarding and supporting children.
- Benefit from an extensive induction programme, alongside ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities.
- Access to Health Assured's comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme to support your physical and mental wellbeing, including 24/7 telephone support, a suite of online resources, and legal and financial advice.
- Competitive benefits package, including generous annual leave entitlement, occupational sick pay, and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
