Job Introduction
Job / Person Summary
We are excited to introduce a new role within the Federation of Burley and Sopley Primary Schools and are looking to appoint a motivated and flexible Cover Supervisor to join our team.
This role would be well suited to:
An individual looking to gain further experience in schools as a step towards teacher training, or
An experienced classroom practitioner e.g Learning Support Assistant, unqualified teacher. Or a qualified teacher who loves working directly with children and would value a role focused on teaching and learning, without the wider responsibilities of class ownership.
The role will involve:
Supporting teaching and learning within classrooms
Leading small‑group interventions
Providing short‑term cover for teacher absence and release time, using existing plans and resources prepared by class teachers
The post will work across both schools within our federation, offering a unique opportunity to be part of two welcoming village school communities and to develop a broad understanding of primary education across different settings.
We are seeking someone who:
Works effectively as part of a team
Is flexible and able to adapt positively to the changing needs of busy primary schools
Is a clear and confident communicator
Understands how children learn and develop
Is confident leading planned lessons with whole classes
Creates a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment while maintaining high expectations
Is willing to share ideas and support colleagues
Has experience of working in schools and supporting teaching and learning
Demonstrates professionalism, integrity and a strong commitment to safeguarding
Is committed to working across our federation and able to travel between both schools as required
What we offer:
A warm, welcoming and supportive federation community
A positive and inclusive working environment across two village schools
A planned CPD programme to support your professional development
A rural setting with genuine opportunities to make a meaningful impact
Visits to our schools are warmly welcomed – we actively encourage prospective candidates to come and meet the team and experience our school environments first‑hand.
If you are enthusiastic, committed and keen to be part of a caring, forward‑thinking federation, we would be delighted to hear from you.
