Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and families? Do you have excellent organisational skills, a calm and compassionate approach, and the confidence to work as part of a dedicated safeguarding team?

The Federation of Netley Abbey Schools is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (Deputy DSL) to join our experienced team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about safeguarding and wishes to play a key role in ensuring that every child is safe, supported and able to thrive.

Working closely alongside the Head of School and the federation safeguarding team you will support the day-to-day safeguarding processes across the Federation. Your role will include following up safeguarding concerns, maintaining accurate and timely records, supporting referrals to external agencies and contributing to safeguarding meetings where appropriate. You will play a key role in supporting our most vulnerable pupils and families.

This role would suit someone who is highly organised, able to manage confidential information with professionalism and sensitivity, and who enjoys building positive relationships with children, families, colleagues and external professionals. Previous safeguarding experience would be advantageous, although training and support will be provided for the right candidate.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of every child
  • Has excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
  • Can work independently whilst contributing positively to a collaborative safeguarding team.
  • Is able to build trusting relationships with children, families and professionals.
  • Demonstrates resilience, professionalism and sound judgement when managing sensitive situations.
  • Shares our commitment to excellence, inclusion and high expectations for all.

In return, we can offer:

  • A welcoming, supportive and highly collaborative staff team.
  • Excellent professional development and safeguarding training.
  • The opportunity to work within an experienced and forward-thinking team, where your wellbeing will be prioritised and regular supervision is provided as standard practice.
  • A role where you will make a genuine difference to the lives of children and their families every day.

If you are passionate about safeguarding and would like to be part of a Federation committed to ensuring every child feels safe, valued and able to achieve their potential, we would love to hear from you.

Rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED (2023), our school is committed to raising standards, promoting positive values and ensuring every child feels safe, valued and supported to achieve their best.

If you share our vision of Excellence Every Day and are committed to helping children grow in confidence, learning and independence, we would love to hear from you.
