ELSA Required - D Grade Fixed Term until August 2027

Job Introduction

We are looking to appoint an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) to join our friendly and inclusive school. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to children’s social and emotional well-being.

About the Role:
 You will work closely with pupils, teachers, and the wider school team to support children’s emotional literacy and resilience. Ideally, you will already hold the ELSA qualification, but we welcome applicants willing to undertake the training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver ELSA programmes covering areas such as bereavement, family breakup, self-esteem, anxiety, and anger management.
  • Plan and evaluate sessions using engaging resources tailored to individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the Family Support Worker, and SENDCo to ensure holistic support.
  • Design and deliver individual and small group programmes to develop emotional literacy, social skills, and self-esteem.
  • Prepare clear session plans and maintain evaluative records.
  • Liaise with staff regarding pupil progress and meet regularly with your line manager.
  • Work within your competencies under the guidance of the line manager.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A caring and empathetic nature with a genuine interest in supporting children’s emotional development.
  • ELSA qualification (or willingness to train).
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
