Job Introduction
At Noadswood, we believe that a Governance Professional plays a critical role in the running of the Academy and we are looking for a new member to join our team.
With the welfare of pupils at the heart of everything we do, this role works closely with the Headteacher, the CFOO and the Chair to co-ordinate the running of the Trust Board and Committee Meetings and ensure governing compliance, in line with national guidance.
Duties will include
- Ensuring effective timetabling, administration and organisation of trust board meetings
- Preparing agendas and organisation of paperwork for meetings, in conjunction with the Chair of the Board, Committee Chairs, the Headteacher and the CFOO
- Accurate minute-taking of meetings, ensuring timely distribution and filing of all paperwork
- Checking that the Trustee pages of the school website, and the DfE School Details are accurate and up-to-date, and liaising with the Chair, Headteacher or CFOO with regard to compliance
- Managing and maintaining records of trustee correspondence
- Close liaison with the Chairs of trustees, Chairs of Committees, Headteacher and CFOO regarding trust board matters
Providing advice to the trustees over changes to statutory requirements, policies or other governance matters. Support and training for this is provided through Hampshire Governor Services
You need to be a highly organised person with attention to detail. You will have experience of minute taking and meeting organisation and be able to demonstrate a diplomatic approach to communication. Schools experience would be beneficial including a qualification in academy governance, but for the right candidate, we would support the development of the role and encourage the successful candidate to join the NGA Clerks Development Programme. This programme offers a blend of flexible learning over approximately a nine month period. Led by experienced facilitators, participants will attend workshops and access effective one-to-one mentoring throughout the duration of this programme, building on the clerking skills learnt. Learning will be both group-led and independent.
Most meetings are held on Thursday evenings between 7pm and 9pm, occasionally they may start at 6.30pm. In addition, you would support any Governor Panels, usually held during the day, to hear complaints or exclusions, although these are rare and held with plenty of notice.
Noadswood School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection processes reflect this recruitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks, along with other relevant employment checks.
