KS2 – LSA Hours 27.5 hours and 3.75 hours lunch duty (working day 08:30 – 15:15) actual salary £15,071 & £1,929 £ Total £17,000

We are seeking to appoint an excellent Learning Support Assistant to work in a KS2 classroom, providing either 1:1 support or group support. The role will involve a mixture of class-based support, supporting the needs of individual children, and leading learning interventions. We are looking for a practitioner who is reflective and will relish the opportunity to train and be involved with excellent practice across the schools, using up to the minute research to build an outstanding team of LSAs.  They will have a passion for learning and a good understanding of how to support the development of the child as an independent and confident individual.

 

The successful candidate will need:

 

 Essential 

  • English and Maths GCSE grade C+ 
  • Have a calm and positive attitude
  • Have a working knowledge of the curriculum and the ability to break down activities into small step teaching
  • Provide modelling and scaffolding to support the child’s interactions and learning whilst striving for pupils’ independence
  • Work with the class teacher on individually planned targets and provide ongoing assessments for learning
  • Recent experience working in schools or with young people
  • Have high expectations of self and pupils
  • Able to ensure a safe and healthy place of learning for the children
  • An enthused and organised approach to work 
  • Be fully committed to the ethos of the school 
  • Have strong positive behaviour management skills 
  • Be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills 

 

Desirable

  • Have an understanding or expertise about pupils with SEND and the barriers to learning that some children may have and strategies that could be used to support children to overcome these.
  • Experience of delivering a range of  interventions and completing assessments
  • A specialism in Phonics

Alver Valley Schools is a Forest School with our own woodland on site. Children in Nursery and Year R have regular Forest School sessions. We also run a Forest School after school club.
