ROLE:                      Teaching Assistant

HOURS:                32.5 hrs/week, Mon-Fri; term time only

START DATE:        November/December 2024

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Assistant to join our team at Shirley Junior School, part of Hamwic Education Trust (HET).

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teachers to provide support for pupils to engage in their learning. The role may involve working with children with special educational needs including those with challenging behaviour. You will be supported by an Emotional Literary Support Assistant (ELSA) and inclusions team. The successful candidate will be available Monday – Friday. 

WE ARE SEEKING A PROFESSIONAL INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS: 

  • A good understanding of how children learn and play
  • Previous experience working with children in a classroom environment
  • High expectations of what children can achieve and how they should behave
  • Commitment to teamwork in a friendly school with a child-centred ethos
  • Resilience, enthusiasm, patience, flexibility and a caring manner
  • An outstanding ability to engage and enthuse children
  • Ability to challenge, support and motivate all children to achieve high standards
  • Ability to work under pressure with good time management skills
  • Ability to think creatively and adapt learning to motivate and meet needs
  • GCSE Grade 4 / C or above in English and Maths, and preferably a Level 2 or higher qualification in Childcare or other relevant area
