Learning Support Assistant

Job Introduction

The Federation of Riders Infant and Junior School is looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils individually and in groups. The ideal candidate will have experience in working in a similar role. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated team and the successful candidate will share the same passion as our existing staff for inspiring and motivating our pupils to fulfil their potential. 

Our Federation serves an area of high deprivation and currently we have over 350 pupils on roll. The schools are set in one shared building on spacious and beautiful grounds which provide our pupils with fantastic learning opportunities. The local community is a very important part of our vision and values and we strive to work with our community to get the best for our children. Our community expects the best and our children deserve and are entitled to no less than this. 

PURPOSE OF THE POST

To give support to pupils, individually or in groups so they can access curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement. To work with the class teacher to raise the learning and attainment of pupils.  

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Maintain and promote understanding of the school rules and values, safeguarding, health and safety and equality.
  2. Make a positive contribution to the strategic aims, values and ethos of the Federation of Riders Infant and Junior Schools.

Expectations

To implement lesson plans, deal with pupil behaviour and make judgements about pupil progress / pupil needs without reference to the teacher.

Whilst working under the general direction of the teacher, able to work unsupervised and without the close presence of the teacher.

With training, will carry out a specific specialist responsibility (e.g. speech therapy) and support other staff in the school when help is needed in this area.
