Job Introduction
We are expanding our team – this is a NEW post!
Our children call the LSAs in our school ‘teachers’ – you are equal to the teaching team and a crucial part of our provision – we couldn’t be without you. Staffing plans are just forming for September and we’re keen to make an early appointment so that you know your future is secure and we can undertake a thorough induction with you.
Our mornings-only LSA will work with children in class but predominantly with a named child or two to ensure we meet EHCP targets our children are well supported no matter what their needs. All of our children are ready and keen to learn and take part socially in the life of the school community and we are determined to make this happen.
We have an experienced LSA and teaching team who want a team member that wants to get stuck in and make a difference.
The role of MDSA is in addition to the LSA role (an extra 5hrs) and all of our LSAs are part of our lunch team so that children have people they know and trust, and who know the school behaviour expectations. We have regular weekly meetings to ensure communication is good and you are well trained for your role.
Ultimately, we’d like you to….
Be proactive – think on your feet, take direction but be independent with it and take an active role in the life of the class and school.
Encourage independence – we don’t want our children to be dependent on you – you are there to offer support and guidance but not do it for them. We need you to quickly grasp the expectations of the curriculum for children in your class and encourage independence towards these.
Have high expectations – we set the bar high for our children in both their learning and their behaviour. We need you to do the same. Kindness with boundaries!
We want you to care about our children - they get one chance at school and their early years are so crucial to getting this right for life. We want you to be motivated by their success, know that they learn when memorable experiences are created on a daily basis and need someone who has clear boundaries but is kind and caring. This is especially key at lunchtimes when children are without their normal class teacher and have a greater degree of freedom.
The desire to work hard is fundamental - you get from your job what you put into it and we want someone who will take a full and active part in school life within and outside the designated working hours; PTA events, school trips and residentials are part of our ethos. Our existing team do this plus more and need someone with the same attitude to join them.
We realise time is tight between now and the deadline but would welcome an informal chat or a show around so you can take a look for yourself or, if you’d like an application pack please email our admin team adminoffice@stockbridge.hants.sch.uk who will send you a pack or make an appointment.
