We are a Federation of two schools, Heathfield School and St Francis School, they are both special schools situated next to each other in Fareham.  We are on a journey of developing our provisions and are excited to invite you to apply for the post of teacher (0.6) within the Federation.

 

Our schools cater for a wide range of special educational needs, from moderate to profound learning difficulties. We aim to provide a stimulating, creative environment where every individual is valued and supported to achieve their very best. This is achieved through teamwork and support within the team.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and highly effective qualified teacher to join our dynamic and nurturing team. Our schools are committed to providing inclusive, personalised education for pupils with complex needs, with a strong emphasis on communication, emotional wellbeing, and independence.

We are looking for a practitioner who has:

 

Desirable but not essential

  • experience of using TEACCH principles to structure learning environments
  • knowledge and practical experience of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) strategies to support pupils
  • experience of working with pupils who have SEND
  • the ability to tailor individual teaching programmes for pupils with complex learning difficulties

Where these knowledge and skills are not yet partially or fully developed training and support will be provided to upskill you. 

 

 

Essential

  • excellent teaching and classroom skills
  • the desire to develop SEND provision knowledge, skills and understanding
  • the ability to plan, implement and evaluate
  • the ability and passion to motivate, lead, manage and develop staff
  • the ability to communicate well and develop effective relationships/partnerships with all staff, other agencies and parents/carers
  • good organisational skills
  • compassionate about the challenges faced by our pupils and their families
  • passionate about personalised provision and understanding SEND 
  • a passion for problem solving to enable young people to learn and access education.
