The role of Senior Administrative Officer is central to the effective running of the school’s day to day communication and administration in our busy school office. This is a varied role and an exciting opportunity for the right person. The successful candidate will need to have the ability to work quickly, be self-motivated, flexible, trustworthy and have excellent organisation skills. The candidate must have experience of working in school as at least an administrative officer and / or a senior administrative officer role. They need to be able to communicate at all levels and be committed to supporting the welfare of our children.
Managing a small team, you will provide comprehensive and efficient administrative support ensuring that a high quality and effective service is delivered at all times, for all stakeholders. The main areas of responsibility will be finance, personnel, administration, premises, including overseeing Health & Safety, with line management responsibility for the Senior Administrative Assistant and Site Manager. Experience of school finance/accounting, particularly IBC, is essential, together with knowledge of Arbor and other IT based programmes. Appropriate training will be offered as required. You will be supported by the leadership team, together with experienced and caring colleagues and governors. Further training and support will be provided by HCC Finance and Personnel teams, etc as necessary.
The successful applicant will:
- Have sustained successful experience of working as an administrative officer and / or a senior administrative officer role in another school setting.
- Have experience of managing staff, budgets and of financial accounting.
- Be confident and proactive in establishing and maintaining administrative systems for a busy school office.
- Have leadership skills and be committed to working within dynamic supportive teams.
- Have successful experience of financial processing, meticulous record keeping and financial reporting, showing attention to detail.
- Have recent knowledge of applying statutory policies and procedures.
- Be a calm, positive and effective communicator confident in liaising with all colleagues, children, parents and outside agencies to further our caring ethos (even under pressure).
- Line manage the admin and site teams, leading appraisals and supporting training.
- Enjoy working with young children and have a passion for their wellbeing and success.
- Be ready to support first aid and medical needs.
- Be keen to use initiative and thrive through a ‘can do’ approach to resolving problems.
- Have energy, brilliant multi-tasking skills and a real sense of fun!
