Breakfast/After school club - Assistant

Job Introduction

Tweseldown Infant School is looking to recruit a staff member for our Breakfast/After School Club. 

We are seeking a person/persons who can ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils in your care, someone to take part in preparing and delivering engaging activities making sure all pupils have a fun time at Breakfast and/or After School care (known as ‘Starcare’).

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Deliver age-appropriate activities and experiences to support pupils’ development
  • Offer educational instruction where needed to help pupils to share equipment
  • Supervise pupils during activities and help to resolve issues between pupils 
  • Monitor pupils that aren’t engaging in play and feedback any concerns to the Starcare manager

 

Health and safety

  • Observe pupils and the environment and take action to minimise any identified health and safety risks 
  • Deliver first aid to respond to minor and major incidents and record these
  • Make sure all food is prepared in line with health and safety standards and that the dietary requirements of pupils are met
  • Supervise pupils eating and assist with chopping food and clearing away (including slip & trip hazards)
  • Support with setting up and putting away all equipment safely 

 

Behaviour

  • Report any incidents of inappropriate behaviour to the Starcare manager
  • Follow school’s Behavior policy
  • Support pupils with their independence and self-esteem when carrying out activities 

Working with others

  • Inform the manager if you are ill following school’s Absence policy
  • Build positive relationships with parents at drop off and pick up times 

 

Safeguarding 

  • Keep accurate attendance records in line with school procedures 
  • Be responsible for pupils until the school day starts / a parent/carer arrives for collection, making efforts to contact the parent/carer in the case of lateness 
  • Look out for any unidentified visitors approaching the school and follow the school’s procedures for approaching/reporting individuals

  • Read and follow the relevant school policies
  • Undertake training required to develop in the role
