Job Introduction
We are seeking to appoint an individual with the qualities and skills necessary to undertake the role of Lead Examinations Invigilator.
The individual must have previous Lead Invigilator experience for this role.
The postholder will be expected to be available for the exam periods as stated by the Examinations Officer at the beginning of each academic term.
- To co-ordinate with the examination team to help with the organisation and management of Invigilator timetables.
- Manage and direct a team of invigilators under the guidance of the Examinations Officer and Assistant Examinations Officer.
- Train invigilators on procedures and equipment used in exams.
- Be fully conversant with the published Examination instructions and regulations.
- Take papers and materials to the examination venue.
- Distribute student place names and numbers on desks as per the printed plan.
- Bring students into venue - orderly and silently.
- Ensure students are seated silently and in the correct seat before opening papers.
- Read instructions and appropriate notices and erratum/addendums.
- Record absentees with the support of the invigilation team.
- Distribute papers and materials to the student desks.
- Maintain security and confidentiality.
- Move around the students silently and observing them closely.
- Ensure no inappropriate items are brought into examinations venue.
- Report any suspected malpractice in accordance with JCQ examination regulations.
- Respond to student requests appropriately.
- Ensure invigilators do not help candidates in any way.
- Ensure students are not disturbed or disturbing.
- Collect papers in order and all other material at end of examinations.
- Dismiss students silently and in an orderly manner.
- Tidy the venue.
- Remove candidate cards from the table, return to box and return to EO.
- Place scripts in alphabetical order in the awarding bodies plastic envelope.
- Collect blue security wallets from additional rooms and place the scripts into the AO envelope in alphabetical order.
- Maintain the integrity of the examination at all times.
Additional
- To know the action to be taken in the event of an emergency such as fire alarm.
- To assist in the promotion of the good name of the school within the local community
- Ensuring there is a good supply of exam stationery and equipment for the season and order as required
- Undertake online Invigilator training at the start of each academic year.
- Must be available to work in the examination periods throughout the academic year to support all examinations and assessments. (September for internal year 7 assessments, January, March-April for internal PPEs and May – June for GCSEs plus support Results day in August)
- Any other duties requested by the Examinations Officer commensurate with the level of the post.
You will be responsible for the smooth, secure running of allocated exam sessions, working under the direction of the Examinations Officer. Duties will include timing of exams, distribution and collection of exam papers, assisting students with additional needs and ensuring Examination Board Regulations are adhered to at all times.
Good communication skills, an observant eye and attention to detail are essential. You will need to have a calm nature, and work effectively in a busy environment.
